Museum Consulting Services

  • Authentication. Working with experts in various fields, Linearis establishes an artwork’s provenance, researches its place in the artist’s oeuvre, compares it to works of the same period or movement, and verifies that its style, technique, and materials are appropriate. Materials testing using AMS carbon dating is also offered.
  • Acquisitions. Linearis focuses considerable expertise on acquiring unique pieces for public and private collectors. The search involves surveying the market, tracking auctions worldwide, and studying white papers and other publications. Members of the Linearis Purveyor’s Circle are notified when items of particular interest to them become available. Standards for acquisitions are high: each work must possess quality, uniqueness, authenticity, rarity, and beauty.
  • Collection Management. From administering budgets to fabricating archival storage solutions and handling image copyright issues, Linearis brings expert knowledge and experience to bear on all aspects of collection management. Other areas of expertise include constituting committees and planning audio tours and other multimedia products.
  • Exhibit Planning. Clients also call on Linearis for help in conceptualizing exhibits, planning gallery space, designing display cases, researching information for placards, and training in installation techniques.
